My name is Rachel, and my husband and I live on Peppermint Wind Farm. While the farm is most definitely a “place” it is also more than that . . . it is an idea that I’ve always had. I always wanted home to be a place where my kids could just be . . . kids! A place to make forts, dress kittens in doll clothes, eat popsicles and jump through the sprinkler. We’ve done all that here and some!
Our farm is a hundred and twenty five year old homestead with 18 acres plus a few borrowed acres of pasture. Right now we have dogs, cats, horses, ponies, a llama, a bunch of chickens, a few rabbits and a milk cow. In the past we’ve raised dairy & meat goats- only recently selling our Boer herd. Our kids were very involved in 4-H and over the years have shown everything from beef cattle to angora rabbits.
Over time as kids have grown, grandkids have arrived, and we’ve moved away from the raising and showing of livestock to growing and raising food for our family. Right now that includes our adult children and their kids. Every week they stop for milk, bread, eggs, cheese, yogurt and several times a year we’re butchering chickens, a hog or two and eventually we hope to add our own grass fed beef.
